| The Mediterranean Sea | |

The Mediterranean Sea is a huge expanse of salt water which becomes a sea thanks to a 50 km gap. It is people, community, sharing, joining and togetherness. It is brotherhood, solidarity, understanding, friendship and agreement. The Mediterranean is an environment diversified by several, many-sided and multifaceted cultures, united by a large heart which beats, nourishes and regenerates them. A land diversified by civilizations joined by a great heart, lifeblood which has always flow in their veins, their evolution driving wheel: the sea. The Mediterranean par excellence is the sea among the lands. It is in the middle of many worlds, surfaces, territories, humankinds. The Mediterranean is an island, an oasis, a shelter, a safe place which takes and gives in the same way. One lineage, a single country characterized by only a water but several kinds of sand, rock, earth, houses, palaces, skyscrapers and people which all united form the region of Mediterranean, unique in its features and on the strength of its diversities. 23 countries, 23 nations, millions of radically different people, united by a water mirror which look at them. Each person with a mark to leave, a square to add to the cover which family passes on by generations to talk about itself. |
| The Project | |
| Mediterranean Quilt is a big collective work of art, a net made of photographers, from the 23 Mediterranean countries, who contribute with their own square to add to the blanket. Mediterranean Quilt begins from the creation of a large collection of squares. Each photographer can send theirs, which are going to be stitched together with the other ones. Mediterranean Quilt has the aim to become a huge virtual archive, exhibitions, and publications. | |

To join, send us 4 pictures from your country: Download the packet with photos as an example and releases, which have do be filled out, signed, scanned and sent together with photos. The photos have to be submitted, 20x20cm in jpeg format at 300 dpi. Submitted photos remain the work of the legitimate owners, whose names will be mentioned in every exhibition of the work “Mediterranean Quilt”.
